ABOUT KENNY BAIK

  Dr. Kenny baik is a world-renowned saxophonist, chamber musician, and educator, whose music has captivated audiences across the globe. Known for his exceptional tone and unparalleled musicality, he has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in numerous countries, including the United States, Russia, and Asia. As a founding member of the L'abri Trio, Kenny's musical artistry has earned critical acclaim, and the group was recently named a finalist for the Pro Musicis International Award in New York City.

  Kenny has graced the stages of some of the most renowned concert halls and venues in the United States, including the Mansion at Strathmore, Johns Hopkins University's Shriver Hall, the Peabody Institute's Griswold Hall, Friedberg Hall, and Goodwin Hall. He has also mesmerized audiences abroad at prestigious venues such as the Seoul Arts Center, Lotte Hall in South Korea, and Seoul Yamaha Artists Concert Hall. Collaborating with several orchestras and ensembles, Kenny has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Song Orchestra, the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Seoul Peabody Alumni Orchestra.

  Kenny's commitment to advancing contemporary saxophone music has been unwavering, and he has actively commissioned and premiered new works by acclaimed composers such as Joan Tower, Zach Gulaboff Davis, Sun-Young Park, Soonjung Suh, and others. His repertoire also includes works by celebrated composers such as Camille Saint-Saëns, Steve Reich, Alexander Glazunov, Jennifer Higdon, and Michael Hersch.

  Kenny's passion for music extends beyond his performances and into his teaching. He is highly respected as a saxophone instructor and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he studied under the guidance of distinguished saxophonist Gary Louie. Kenny is the first saxophonist to receive the DMA degree from the Peabody Institute. He has also trained under esteemed educators such as Doug Earlenbaugh, Dr. Kenneth Fischer, Dr. Stephen Fischer, Dr. Joseph Wytko, and Dr. Connie Frigo. Kenny holds a Master's degree in Performance from the Peabody Institute and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia.

  Kenny's unwavering commitment to serving his country is remarkable. From 2004-2007, he served as a member of the Marine Corps Band in Quantico, Virginia, performing over 150 concerts annually, including significant performances such as the 2007 Super Bowl XLI, Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C, Columbus Day Parade in New York City, and "Hail to the Chief" for President George W. Bush. Currently, he holds the position of principal saxophonist in the 229th Maryland Army National Guard Band.
